Chichén Itzá (at the mouth of the well of the Itza)

Chichén Itzá covers an area of approximately 2.5 square miles (6.4 square kilometers) and features several significant structures, including the Kukulcán Pyramid, which stands at 98 feet (30 meters) tall. The pyramid is known for its unique architectural design, which aligns with astronomical events, such as the spring and autumn equinoxes when shadows create the illusion of a serpent slithering down the steps. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988, Chichén Itzá receives over 2 million visitors each year.
